An ethicist of technology and a consultant, Louis de Diesbach questions the impact of technology on humanity, guided by his passion for philosophy.
Passionate about philosophy and technology, Louis de Diesbach works as a technical ethicist and consultant. His professional and personal life revolves around three pillars: husband and father, consultant for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and ethicist on what he calls ‘the real questions’ around technology.
A graduate of the Solvay Brussels School, Louis de Diesbach is convinced that the world of business is one of the major players in the changes that can be brought about in technology - for better or for worse - and that is why he is regularly involved in business, from boards of directors to the ‘AI Academies’ set up in certain companies.
He then obtained a Master's degree in Ethics and Philosophy from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. It was during this second master's degree that he began writing for various media, and he now regularly contributes to L'Écho and La LibreBelgique (Belgium) as well as Le Temps (Switzerland). He is also a regular contributor to the Trench Tech podcast (France), where he writes a column called ‘La tech entre les lignes’, which aims to explore the academic papers that have marked the history of technology - from Alan Turing to Philippa Foot, via Emmanuel Kant and Plato (!).
He is also the author of two scientific articles and two books, ‘Liker sa servitude’ (FYP, 2023) and ‘Bonjour ChatGPT’ (Mardaga, 2024), both of which received an excellent critical reception, as well as a speaker at the Nantes 2024TEDx, with a talk entitled ‘Osons penser une nouvelle utopie numérique’ (‘Let's dare to think of a new digital utopia’).
His work has been inspired by such diverse and inspiring philosophers as Albert Camus, Gilbert Hottois, Sherry Turkle, Emmanuel Kant and Eric Sadin.
